ARTIST STATEMENT

I have been a Fabric Artist for over two decades. I began by designing and producing colourful fabric pictures for my childrens' rooms. Over the years, I have invented, refined and experimented with materials and techniques that allow me to portray landscapes, streetscapes, wildlife, abstracts and architecture in meticulous detail. I am attracted to fabric as a medium because it provides instant texture; because of the layering properties of sheer silks and organzas; and because of the fickleness and unpredictability of this relatively unstable medium that often leads me down paths I had not foreseen!
